CYCLE 0 • WHISPERING WHITE • The Beginning of a Lifelong Bloom

In 1999, Richard Fischer began what would become his life’s poetic journey — capturing the fleeting perfection of flowers.

The seed was planted decades earlier, in the lush jungles of the Philippines, where his family lovingly gathered wild orchids to grace their garden in Manila. Surrounded by the scent of blossoms and the wonder of color, Richard’s fascination with nature quietly took root. Years later, working as a commercial photographer in Germany, a simple moment changed everything. Invited to test Kodak’s new Ektachrome film, Richard spontaneously photographed a single flower — plucked from a bouquet on his studio table. That unplanned shot, filled with purity and grace, earned him the Silver Award for the world’s second-best image. It was as if destiny itself whispered: follow the flowers.

Two decades later, after international exhibitions — including China’s renowned Ningbo Museum of Art — Richard walked along the Bund in Shanghai, seeking traces of his family’s past. Suddenly, across the skyline, he saw massive projections of flowers dancing on a skyscraper. In that breathtaking instant, he felt his mother — born in Shanghai — sending a tender message:

“You are on the right path, my son. Keep photographing flowers!”

Back in Europe, he began his now-iconic white backdrop flower series — images that reveal nature’s fragility with luminous simplicity. Once known only through his coveted calendar editions, these works are now, for the first time, offered as  fine art prints.

Today together with SOUS TERRE Gallery, Richard proudly presents CYCLE 0 • WHISPERING WHITE— a collection that marks the genesis of a creative legacy. This exclusive series invites collectors and admirers alike to own a piece of history — the earliest works of the artist the United Nations later honored as the “Ambassador of Flowers.” Now, for the very first time, in collaboration with SOUS TERRE Gallery, Richard opens this creative chapter to everyone who has dreamed of owning one of his images.

WHISPERING WHITE introduces new smaller-format fine art editions, crafted with the same precision, depth, and luminous beauty — but designed to fit smaller living spaces at more accessible price levels. Collectors who once admired his large-scale works from afar can now bring the same poetic elegance into their homes — a chance to own the beginning of Richard’s artistic floral journey.
